Interview Questions

When we send our curriculum vitae the search committee reviews our document first.Then committee member contact us or contact to referencing member for further information.Selected candidate are invited for interview , then faculty member review the candidate document , after group meeting and faculty vote an employment offer letter is sent to the selected candidate.

  • Preparing for interview :-
    Get information about department where you are going for interview from website or you can also contact to colleagues who work there and interview schedule. Candidate should prepare a research presentation , outline your program so that main information is covered in the given time period.Practice your presentation with your visual materials and notes so you can master your pacing, volume, strength, and fluency. Prepare answer to question , most of the question are asked on your current research , teaching experience , professional activities. Academic interview include 3 type of interviews i.e conference , phone and on-campus interview. They determine your potential. You should went into the interview with the attitude that this was the job that I really wanted. An interview is your opportunity to find out about the institution, as well as their opportunity to find out about you. During interview process you have speak enthusiastically about your work , establish eye-contact , end with a strong conclusion. Feel free to comment positively on what you are learning about the institution and department.
  • Interview Process:-
    Interview schedule shall contain one to three days in length. Schedule include One-to –one interviews with individuals , group interview with faculty , professional presentation to faculty. In all interview meetings, you may be asked about your prior experience, research interests, professional goals, and opinions or viewpoints on professional issues.

    • Where do you see yourself in ten years?
    • Are you interested in extracurricular involvement at our school?
    • Have you ever received an award?
    • Do you belong to any social networking websites (Facebook, etc.)? Do you mind logging in and showing us your profile right now?
    • What do you feel is wrong with public education?
    • Tell us about your references and what they would say about you if they were here with us today.
    • What would your last boss say about you?
    • How would one of your students describe you?
    • Imagine you are at your retirement party at the end of your career. How would people describe you as a teacher?

Mistakes Of Faculties in Interview :

    Teaching interviews are your time to show your knowledge and your love for the profession.
  • Talk Too Long:-
    Answer each of the questions thoroughly.You should use visual clues as you are speaking to let you know if the interviewer is ready to move on.
  • Be Argumentative :-
    It is best to avoid argument. The interview is not the time disagreeing with interviewer.
  • Use "Big" Words or Slang :-
    Don't try to impress the interviewer with your huge vocabulary. Don't revert into vernacular when you are interviewing
  • Answer Questions with a Simple Yes or No :-
    Answer each question to put you in a positive light. Don’t give answer in Yes Or No format
  • Look Disturbed :-
    Don't shake your leg, look at your watch, twist your hair, or do any other action.When you are entering into interview put aside all worries.
  • Disturb:-
    Do not disturb interviewer when they are speaking, even if you know the answer to their question before they are done, let them have their say.
  • Act or Dress Inappropriately
    Don't went late, chew gum, bite your nails, use indecent language, or smoke. Make sure that you choose a professional clothing it is ironed well comb. Be cautious with your perfume and make sure you have prune your nails.
  • Talk Bad About Anyone:-
    Don't speak badly about former coworkers or students. Always answer in as positive manner.
  • Disorganized in Your Answers :-
    Organize your thoughts quickly. Finish your thoughts and use transitions to move to additional examples. Avoid going back to previous answers if at all possible.
  • Be depressed :-
    You don't want to appear like you don't believe success is possible.
  • Let confidence sound like ego
    Confidence means that you’re sure enough in yourself to admit when you’re wrong. Ego means that you believe you’re never wrong. Show that you believe in yourself.
  • Get nervous :-
    Don’t sweat it , exhibit those common nervous tendencies.
  • Don’t stop talking :-
    If you’ve made your point, then stop talking and allow the interview to go on. Develop each statement enough so that you’re thorough, but then stop.
  • Failure to develop :-
    Continue to read books, relevant Internet sites, take courses, etc. , you have stayed current on trends in education
  • Neglect to give explanation :-
    If you are neglecting to supply real life examples of your experiences leaves a gaping hole in your conversation.
  • Fail to follow up:-
    You have to send a personal , hand-written thank you note to interviewer.
  • Talk less about your last job: :-
    The only thing complaining about your last job will do is make the interviewer wonder what complaints you’ll have about this job.
